The Tomás Terry theatre in central Cienfuegos city, together with the Sauto in Matanzas province and the La Caridad in Santa Clara make up the trilogy of the most important Cuban theatres of the 19th century

One of the most impressive buildings in Cienfuegos is the Teatro Tomas Terry on the north side of Parque Marti. The theatre was built by Tomas Terry's family, as a tribute to the man, after his death. A statue of Tomas Terry stands in the lobby. This Italian looking theatre was the creation of architect Lino Sanchez Marmol and was built in 1889
